Job Summary
Club Leaders create a safe, inclusive, and engaging after-school environment for approximately 20 youth per club, leading age-appropriate activities aligned with a whole-child approach, building positive relationships with participants and collaborating with the Site Coordinator and community liaison. Responsibilities include developing and leading FUN, engaging activities, monitoring attendance and engagement, coordinating culminating events, requesting materials within budget, adhering to safety and emergency protocols, potentially attending off-site field trips, and participating in staff development trainings. This on-site role involves choosing between school sites, sleepaway camp, or both, with trainings at the main office in Little Tokyo and at various school sites. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, energetic, proactive, and capable of presenting to staff and peers during in-person trainings, with experience in expanded learning programs or youth recreational settings and willingness to obtain required certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- AA Degree in Child Development or a related field preferred
- prior experience working with groups of K-12 students in an academic or recreational setting preferred
- valid LIVE Scan, TB Clearance, and CPR Certification
- must successfully pass an assessment test evaluating skills in math, reading comprehension, and spelling
- good oral and written communication
- computer literacy and willingness to learn
