Job Summary
High School ELA teachers will implement a robust literature curriculum across multiple campuses, emphasizing inclusive texts, preparing students for AP, SAT, and collegiate coursework. Responsibilities include guiding student-led discourse, helping students analyze literature, differentiating instruction, analyzing student work with weekly meetings with principal/coach, collaborating with department and grade-level teams, and building strong relationships with students and families. The role also involves participating in practice-based PD, mentorship, and school-wide meetings to foster a positive school culture and support student achievement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enrollment in a teacher preparation program and maintenance of GPA of 2.5 or higher during employment if not having a degree in education
- Teachers are required to become certified in the state of New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
- Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or related fields
