Job Summary
Deliver specific course content in an online environment while managing student progress through the learning management system. Contact students regularly via email or phone to respond to inquiries within one business day and participate in weekly teacher conference calls. Develop effective instructional tools to supplement the provided curriculum and generate formal reports on academic progress. Organize orientation, training, and social activities for students and families, including travel to assigned geographic areas for open houses and information sessions. Administer state assessments and serve as proctors for site-based exams to support student success.
Required Qualifications
- Any business or office education certificate
- Business and Finance: Grades 6-12
- Business Education: Grades 6-12
- Marketing: Grades 6-12
- Marketing Education: Grades 8-12
- Health Science Technology Education: Grades 8-12
- Health Science Education: Grades 6-12
- Residency Requirement: Texas
- State certified teacher and/or alternatively certified CTE Teacher
- Bachelor's degree
- Three (3) years of successful teacher experience within the virtual setting
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to clear required background check(s)
- Shared view of the virtual academy's mission
- Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
- An ability to support and guide adults as well as students
- Knowledgeable in the application of data bases utilized by K12
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organization and time-management skills
- Microsoft Office 365
- Web proficiency
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school
Desired Qualifications
- Experience as an online learner
- Experience with project based learning
- Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database
- An ability to support adults with basic computer set-up and navigation
