Job Summary

Implement the high school counseling and guidance program curriculum while guiding individual and group students through educational and career planning. Consult with teachers, parents, and staff to address student needs, refer cases to specialists, and assist in course selection and standardized test interpretation. Plan and evaluate the guidance program, organize career days, and arrange tutoring or summer school work. Maintain student records with confidentiality, supervise college and scholarship applications, and advise administrators on discipline matters. Remain available for counseling on personal, family, and emotional issues, and provide in-service training to faculty. Work a twelve-month contract (240 days) with a salary based on the board-approved schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Lee County Board of Education.
  • Possession of a valid Alabama professional educator certificate (Class A) in school counseling.
  • A minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the assigned task.
  • Background Check Required: (HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
