Job Summary
Develop comprehensive school counseling programs using data to drive academic, career, and personal/social development for students. Implement grade-level appropriate college and career readiness initiatives and conduct annual program audits to ensure effectiveness. Provide individual and group counseling services, monitor student performance and attendance, and facilitate interventions for behavioral and academic needs. Act as case manager for 504 students, collaborate with parents and educators on life planning, and coordinate all student services. Cover classroom teaching when needed. Requires a Master's degree, Connecticut School Counselor certification, and proficiency in data analysis and technology. Relentless commitment to student achievement with occasional evening or weekend commitments.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or institution
- Certified as a School Counselor/Guidance Counselor by the State of Connecticut
- Ability to analyze data

- Relationship-building; must show evidence of building and leveraging strong relationships
- Relentlessness – must be willing to do whatever it takes to constantly improve student achievement, including occasional evening and weekend commitments
- Communicate Effectively – must be able to clearly communicate with peers and supervisors
- Organization – excellent skills of organization and follow-through
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Naviance and PowerSchool program is a plus
- Experience in urban schools is preferred
- Knowledge of current research and trends in school counseling and guidance
- Knowledge of current research and trends in college and career readiness
- Knowledge of crisis prevention and arbitration techniques
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in the knowledge and use of Technology and computer applications
