Job Summary
High School Counselor (2026-2027) at Match High School, Boston, MA. Provides direct counseling to a caseload of students, conducts individual and group counseling using evidence-based modalities, performs safety and risk assessments, offers case management for students and families, participates in IEP meetings and develops IEP goals, analyzes data to inform supports, collaborates with teachers on classroom-based mental health strategies, implements preventative mental health and wellness programming, maintains a trauma-sensitive, culturally responsive approach, upholds high expectations, provides relational support, and engages in coaching and professional development. Strong emphasis on Spanish language ability (strongly preferred) and experience with racial, gender, and cultural factors in student experiences; requires a Masters in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling and licensure (LCSW/LICSW or LMHC) or eligibility within one year; two+ years of school-based social work experience preferred; US work authorization required. Salary range for new counselors is $67,812–$104,899 with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of school-based social work experience (strongly preferred)
- Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling and an LCSW/LICSW or LMHC (or eligibility within one year)
- Ability to speak Spanish fluently (strongly preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and group facilitation skills
- Extensive clinical assessment and case management experience
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
- Deep understanding of how race, gender, and culture shape student experiences
- Demonstrated cultural competence, empathy, and ability to build trusting relationships with diverse students and families
- Strong knowledge of Boston-area mental health, social service, and community resources
- Belief that all students can succeed
- Commitment to continuous learning and openness to feedback
