Job Summary
Teach high school science including preparation for Advanced Placement and college coursework across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences. Use inquiry-based learning, facilitate student-led discourse and evidence-based argumentation, and guide interactive labs and project-based performance tasks. Analyze student work trends with weekly meetings with principal or instructional coach; differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners. Build positive relationships with students and families, participate in weekly school-wide meetings, and collaborate with grade-level teams to set academic goals and practice instructional strategies. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification not required to be hired, but must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enrollment in a teacher preparation program
- Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher during employment if not educated in a degree program with education
- Must become certified in New York within a reasonable period after beginning employment
