Job Summary
Design daily lesson plans using the shared FLACS Network Science curriculum to foster critical thinking and prepare students for NYS Regents, AP, and collegiate coursework. Implement student-centered strategies that differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including those with disabilities and English Language Learners. Co-plan and co-teach with Special Education and ESL teachers to support differentiation, while analyzing assessment data to refine instructional practices. Maintain a safe, caring classroom culture that promotes inclusion and holds all students to high academic expectations. Grade student work promptly and communicate progress through online portals and report cards. Participate in professional learning communities, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions to share best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- New York State Teaching Certification in Biology (grades 7-12)
- NYS Department of Education fingerprint clearance and criminal background checks
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Prior satisfactory teaching experience, especially in an urban school
- Dual certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or Students with Disabilities
