Job Summary
Conduct daily practice sessions, game strategy planning, and student-athlete development for track, field, tennis, and volleyball programs. Enforce eligibility standards, oversee safety certifications including CPR and First Aid, and manage team culture through inclusive, character-focused programming. Uphold NJSIAA requirements and complete background checks as part of the hiring process. This role supports a nonprofit network dedicated to closing the college completion gap in economically disadvantaged communities, fostering resilient student-athletes across multiple sports.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 23 years of coaching experience, preferably at the high school or youth level
- Strong foundational knowledge of volleyball techniques, training methods, and game strategy
- Demonstrated commitment to working with high school students, particularly in urban school settings
- Willingness to obtain and maintain required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, NFHS, NJSIAA)
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma
- uphold and enforce all eligibility standards for student-athletes
- complete a criminal background check and fingerprinting as per state law
- comply with all NJSIAA coaching requirements within the required timeframe (often within 1 year of hire)
- All head coaches must complete NJSIAA-mandated safety certifications (Concussion, Heat Illness, CPR, First Aid)
