Job Summary
Athletic trainers coordinate with the Athletic Director and coaches to ensure the safety of student athletes by establishing an effective athletic training program. The employee must understand and abide by all building, district and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) policies, regulations, procedures and guidelines. This role requires WA State Athletic Trainer licensure, a bachelor’s or master’s degree approved by the WA Secretary of Health, and certification/training in First Aid, CPR, and AED. Strong recordkeeping, safety procedures knowledge, and ability to collaborate with students, families, and staff are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Current Washington State Athletic Trainer License
- Graduation from a bachelor’s or master’s degree program approved by Washington’s Secretary of Health
- First aid certificate, CPR card and AED training (or ability to obtain)
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to athletic performance
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Ability to meet punctuality and attendance expectations
- Experience working with culturally and racially diverse students and communities
- Familiarity with rules and regulations of sports and WIAA requirements
- Fingerprints and background check
