High School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director (AP/AD)

Job Summary
Manage day-to-day school operations, oversee safety protocols, and enforce disciplinary policies while supporting the Principal. Lead the athletic program by recruiting coaches, managing schedules, and ensuring NCHSAA compliance, while teaching a Field Maintenance & Athletic Operations course. Coordinate extracurricular activities, handle student behavior, and analyze data to inform decision-making. Build relationships with parents and the community, supervise staff, and maintain athletic facilities and budgets. Assist teachers with evaluations and professional development to foster continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field
- Teaching experience
- valid administrative NC certification/license
- knowledge of educational laws, policies, and regulations
- ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and the community
- problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment
- knowledge about AVID Advancement Via Individual Determination
- knowledge about CTE Career and technical education
- ability to effectively lead and coach others
- ability to teach a Field Maintenance & Athletic Facility Operations course (or similar elective)
- ability to teach lessons on leadership, responsibility, and teamwork within the athletic context
- ability to prepare students to understand the behind-the-scenes work that supports successful athletic programs
