Job Summary
Assist the Head Athletic Coach in developing a competitive girls' basketball team while maintaining high academic standards for student-athletes. Direct the varsity team at all contests and supervise athletes at invitational meets or postseason competitions. Manage sports equipment inventory, recommend replacements, and organize tryout systems for team recruitment. Ensure all athletes pass medical examinations before the regular season and maintain file records, statistics, and photographs. Observe sub-varsity practices and games as required. This role emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and character development within a diverse student population of over 24,000. Candidates must hold a high school diploma, be at least 18 years old, and possess one year of coaching experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 18 years of age
- One (1) year of coaching experience in the sport assigned
- CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to enroll and successful complete a CPR and First Aid training course
Desired Qualifications
- 21 years of age
- Current teacher or classified employee of Spotsylvania County Public Schools
