Job Summary
Apprentice Teacher to gain classroom experience across multiple grades, observe Master Teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide in-house substitute coverage, and support tutoring, grading, and small-group instruction. Responsibilities include implementing curricula, assessing student progress, participating in curriculum development and school-wide functions, advising a small group of students, supervising during transitions and meals, communicating with students and families, and engaging in ongoing coaching and professional development with the aim of becoming a lead teacher. Strong candidates demonstrate motivation, teamwork, adaptability, organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to supporting urban students through a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Certification is not required to be hired at Uncommon, but meet NY state certification eligibility requirements and enroll in a teacher preparation program; maintain GPA 2.5+ if no education degree
