Job Summary
The High Quality Substitute provides supervision, safety, and well-being for children aged 0-17 (and some young adults with Special Needs) in a trauma-informed care framework, collaborating with partner staff to deliver age-appropriate activities, meals, and documentation while ensuring a safe environment across various settings and locations. Responsibilities include coordinating activities and curriculum for children, assisting children with identified or suspected special needs (including feeding, toileting, mobility, and behavior support), supporting clerical tasks and data entry, aiding in scheduling and documenting educational services, and following agency, Head Start/partner guidelines, and policies. Requires High School Diploma or GED, completion of ANGELS training, pediatric CPR & First Aid certification, ability to work with diverse populations, and willingness to meet state licensing or certification requirements as applicable; bilingual English/Spanish skills are desirable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of ANGELS High Quality Substitute training
- Current Pediatric CPR & First Aid Certification
- Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner
- Fluent in English and Spanish (desirable)
- Vaccination status proof or exemption available (desirable)
- State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance (desirable)
