Job Summary
Provide personal care to hospice patients as part of VITAS Home Health Aide; responsibilities include helping with hygiene, meals, ambulation, and assisting with certain treatments under nurse supervision; read and record vitals; maintain a safe environment; promote mental alertness and provide emotional support to patient and family; report changes to VITAS Nurse and interdisciplinary team; teach basic personal care to primary caregiver; perform infection control; complete at least 12 hours of in-service training annually; must travel per job requirements; qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, state training/certification requirements, and competency evaluation; cannot perform restricted medical procedures such as wound care, catheterization, or administration of medications; role reports to VITAS Nurse; no institutional assignment; travel required.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Meets personnel qualifications of a Home Health Aide as specified in 42 C.F.R. Section 484.4 and Section 484.36
- Documented evidence of 75 hours of training as specified in 42 C.F.R. Sections 484.36 (a)(1)
- Documented evidence that Home Health Aide has successfully completed a Competency Evaluation program as described in 42 C.F.R. Section 484.36(b)

- CNA, HHA, HA
