Job Summary
Home Health Aide (HHA)/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) needed for Dementia and Alzheimer’s care in patients’ homes. Responsibilities include Specialized Memory Support using redirection and validation techniques; Behavioral management to maintain a secure, calm environment; Cognitive engagement through activities like puzzles and reminiscence; Dignified ADLs assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming) with patient-centered communication; Safety monitoring to prevent wandering; Clinical communication to update Director of Nursing and family; Nutritional support with meals and hydration; Accurate documentation of care, vitals, and cognitive changes. Requires Indiana HHA or CNA licensure, CPR/BLS certification, and negative TB test or equivalent; minimum 1 year of dementia/Alzheimer’s care experience; must be a licensed driver with reliable transportation; physically able to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds. Part-time, in-person position located in Carmel, IN.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted HHA or CNA license in the state of Indiana
- Certifications: Certified CPR/BLS and negative 2-step TB skin test or chest x-ray or quantiferon
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience in a home health agency or facility; direct experience in Dementia/Alzheimer’s care is required
- Skills: Exceptional assessment skills and the ability to think critically in a home-care setting
- Transportation: Licensed driver with valid automobile insurance and reliable transportation
- Physical Ability: Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull to provide varied assistance based on client mobility; Must be able to safely lift and transfer up to 50 pounds
