Job Summary
Open the pool with minimal supervision under the direction of the Aquatic Coordinator and Head Guard. Provide a safe environment for all participants by responding to emergencies and administering CPR and First Aid according to YMCA and American Heart Association guidelines. Maintain current YMCA, American Red Cross, or Ellis and Associates Lifeguard certificates, including First Aid and CPR Healthcare Provider certifications, and pass the basic skills test requiring 500 yards of swimming. Relate to and communicate effectively with people of all ages, cultures, and abilities. This role includes opening shifts from 4:45 AM to 9 AM Monday through Friday and 6:30 AM to 12 PM on Saturdays.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Current YMCA Lifeguard certificate
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate
- Current Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certificate
- Current First Aid and CPR Healthcare Provider certifications
- Ability to pass basic lifeguard skills test
- Ability to swim 500 yards
- Ability to relate to and communicate with people of all ages, cultures, and abilities
