Job Summary
Conduct safe and challenging swim lesson classes for individuals aged 14-15 under the direction of the Program Coordinator or Aquatics Director, strictly adhering to YMCA and safety guidelines. Maintain current First Aid certification or obtain it within 60 days of employment. Secure Lifeguard or Aquatic Safety Assistant certification by age 16, or obtain one within 90 days, and acquire Basic Swim Lesson Instructor or Water Fitness Instructor certifications. Pass a swim test demonstrating proficiency in required strokes and treading water for at least two minutes. Complete New Employee Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention, Safety, and Risk Management training within 60-90 days. Work weekday evenings, Saturday mornings, and Sunday afternoons with flexible scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrates emotional maturity and judgment
- Has the ability to swim as determined by passing a swim test
- Maintain current First Aid certification or obtain within 60 days of employment
- Obtain current Lifeguard or Aquatic Safety Assistant certification or be able to obtain one within 90 days
- Ability to obtain YMCA certifications such as Basic Swim Lesson Instructor and/ or Water Fitness Instructor
