Job Summary
Oversee operation of three 404 MW hydro generators in an underground powerhouse; supervise the 230 kV switchyard and major dams; ensure compliance with FERC guidelines and regulatory requirements; investigate and address incidents; supervise union-represented co-workers; travel ~3 days/month for offsite meetings; training and enforcing Lock Out/Tag Out procedures; lead productivity improvements while managing safety and budget considerations; coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Construction, and Project Management for asset repair and long-term planning; provide interface during regulatory inspections and relicensing activities; on-site presence at the Helms hydro facility with 24/7 on-call responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED Diploma
- Valid CA driver’s license
- 5 years of experience in Hydro Operations, Maintenance, or Engineering
- Work is divided between field and office environment
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, traverse uneven terrain, and drive on mountain roads in inclement weather
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline
- Professional Engineers License
- Supervisory experience
- Knowledge of Power Generation Operation and Maintenance Standards and Guidelines and associated regulatory requirements
- Ability to manage operation and maintenance activities within authorized budget and metrics
- Knowledge of Powerhouse equipment and auxiliary systems
- Ability to read and interpret civil, electrical or mechanical arrangement drawings
- Knowledge of Powerhouse and Water Conveyance protection schemes and equipment)
