Job Summary
Special Education 1:1 Assistant supports a 1:1 student in a PreK-12 setting under the Building Principal, focusing on assisting with instruction, behavior management, and daily classroom operations. Responsibilities include preparing materials, supervising students, assisting with accommodations and IEP goals, supporting personal hygiene and mobility, assisting with field trips and daily reports, maintaining confidentiality, and communicating with parents and staff. Requires CPI training, strong interpersonal and technology skills, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a background check.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Meet WA State Para-professional Qualifications (72 Quarter Credits from an accredited college/university, an associate’s degree, or passing score on the ETS Test)
- Meet ESEA Para-professional Qualifications
- Minimum computer/technology skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Ability to handle stress/anger/conflict situations
- Enjoys working with students
- Sound decision-making skills
- Responsible and punctual
- Complete CPI Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, as scheduled
