Job Summary
Perform maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and fault-finding on specialised vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness for Defence and commercial customers. Work on unique platforms including Aviation Refuelling Vehicles and Ground Support Equipment while developing skills in hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and procedures to complete tasks independently within a small team. This permanent, full-time role at RAAF Base Pearce supports critical operations across Western Australia, offering ongoing technical training and a supportive environment.
Required Qualifications
- Australian Citizen
- ability to successfully complete a Federal Police check
- requirement to hold appropriate Security Clearance
- qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
- Successfully complete a pre-placement medical including D&A testing
- Hold an unrestricted driver's licence
- Willingness and ability to obtain HR/HC and Dangerous Goods licences
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/PLC systems
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and procedures
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A customer-focused attitude
- Ability to work independently and within a small team
- Confidence using technology and computer-based maintenance systems
- A proactive approach and commitment to continuous learning
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working on Aviation Refuelling Vehicles or Ground Support Equipment
- Previous Defence industry experience
- Veteran or ex-Defence background
