Job Summary
Heavy Truck Mechanic responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, garbage compactors, trailers, and related equipment at Veit in New Berlin, WI. Duties include diagnosing engine, drive train, hydraulic, air, and electrical systems; using diagnostic software; fabricating with welding equipment; maintaining a clean, safe shop; and communicating with supervision about actions affecting operations. Requires a valid CDL (or ability to obtain within 1 year), strong mechanical aptitude, safety-conscious work habits, and ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A or B CDL (CDL) or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of heavy-duty truck components
- Ability to adhere to safety rules and maintain a safe work environment
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills in writing and verbally
- Ability to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work independently and make repair decisions with appropriate experience
- Pre-employment drug screen required
- Welding experience a plus
- Experience using diagnostic software a plus
