Job Summary

Service, repair, and modify the mine's heavy mobile equipment fleet to ensure maximum availability. Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, part replacements, and routine cleaning, while assisting in major overhauls of engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems. Diagnose faults using computerized test equipment, replace damaged components, and verify performance against manufacturer specifications. Install aftermarket devices and fabricate safety guards, while conducting HSEQ inspections to maintain compliance with safety standards. Work year-round outside in various positions, lifting up to 50 lbs, and utilize both lube and service trucks along with company tools.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • 3+ years mechanic experience
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work outside year-round
  • Requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching
  • Must wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gloves, hardhat, steel-toed boots, and safety eyewear as well as other as-needed PPE such as fall protection
  • Working knowledge of various techniques for removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to HME
  • Able to use basic tools such as wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, brake tools, and screwdrivers as well as test/measurement devices such as feeler gauges, depth gauges, circuit testers, micrometers, and dial indicators
  • Able to read and interpret parts' lists, manufacturer's repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with cranes, hoists, and rigging techniques
  • Familiarity to the mine's HME including hydraulic shovels, excavators, wheel loaders, track dozers, haul trucks, motor graders, drills, and various other support equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical/vocational school completion and/or diesel mechanic certification preferred
  • Mining experience preferred, surface mining experience a plus
  • Computer skills a plus
  • Welding experience and/or certification a plus
  • MSHA training a plus
  • First Aid and CPR training a plus
