Job Summary
Manage the heavy haul permit department by hiring, training, and directing the team while establishing processes to ensure safe load movement and minimize delays. Provide state information and permit limits to coordinators and drivers, collaborate across divisions to solve problems, and serve as a liaison for resolving permit or route issues. Build relationships with state and local agencies, function as the expert on complex regulations, and track metrics to improve efficiency and productivity.
Required Qualifications
- A 2- or 4-year degree in a customer driven environment and/or three to five years of training in a related area such as operations or transportation
- Experience in developing strong relationships department-wide to effectively manage, plan, and prioritize department workload
- Strong customer service, time management and basic math skills with a drive for results, perseveres in the face of resistance or setbacks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem solving, research, and analytical skills to implement logical and creative conclusions and make well-informed quick decisions and apply influential negotiation skills to persuade
- Ability to work as a team member, amenable to a variety of work projects; provide and receive feedback to build a positive team spirit
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish trust and rapport with all levels of staff. Able to relate effectively to diverse cultures
- Ability to persevere in an ever-changing work environment; able to deal with frequent change, delays, and unexpected events
- Ability to foresee trends and changes that occur and will affect permits and routes
- Must demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the transportation industry and over-dimensional permitting preferred but not required
