Job Summary
Drive a class 8 tractor and trailer with up to 8 axles, including lift, flip, and spreader bar configurations, to transport machinery and materials over 80,000 pounds to specified destinations. Load and unload cargo ensuring compliance with FMSCA and Warren CAT requirements, while conducting pre and post trip inspections and reporting deficiencies via driver-vehicle inspection reports. Operate all construction equipment, receive dispatches through technology devices, and maintain electronic logs according to state and federal regulations. Communicate with supervisors for delivery instructions and report load status, while maintaining confidentiality regarding customers and store operations. Work with customers and vendors frequently, following directions and making accurate independent decisions in high traffic or congested city zones. Requires a Class A CDL, DOT Physical, and flexibility in work schedule, with up to 100% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one (1) year certificate from college or technical school
- three (3) years related experience and/or training
- Class A CDL driver's license
- DOT Physical Examination (Medical Card)
- clear driving record
- Ability to work effectively with tools and equipment
- Ability to make accurate independent decisions, perform duties and make judgments in a timely manner
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondences and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Must be able to pass work related pre-employment physical
- Successfully complete Work Steps assessment
- Must be flexible in work schedule
- Required travel up to 100%
