Job Summary
Drive a Class 8 tractor and trailer with up to 8 axles, including lift, flip, and spreader bar configurations, to transport machinery and materials over 80,000 pounds to specified destinations. Load and unload cargo, ensuring it is secure per FMSCA and Warren CAT requirements, while conducting pre and post trip inspections and reporting deficiencies. Operate construction equipment, receive dispatches via technology devices, and maintain electronic logs according to state and federal regulations. Communicate with supervisors for delivery instructions, report load status, and work with customers and vendors while maintaining confidentiality. Travel up to 100% of the time in this safety-sensitive position.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- one (1) year certificate from college or technical school
- three (3) years related experience and/or training
- Class A CDL driver's license
- DOT Physical Examination (Medical Card)
- clear driving record
- Ability to work effectively with tools and equipment
- Ability to make accurate independent decisions, perform duties and make judgments in a timely manner
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondences and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Must be able to pass work related pre-employment physical
- Successfully complete Work Steps assessment
- Must be flexible in work schedule
- Required travel up to 100%
