Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Technician performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment, compact heavy equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical problems, conducting preventive maintenance inspections, and repairing electrical, diesel and gasoline systems, including engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, hydraulics, brakes, suspension, exhaust, and emissions. Reads equipment condition reports, communicates defects to the supervisor, documents parts usage and times, and records data into fleet management software. Maintains safety compliance and may perform overhauls on gas or diesel engines; requires ASE Certifications and related trade-school training. Required Qualifications
- ASE Certification
- Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree
- Certificate in electrical diagnostics
- Applicable ASE certifications
- OSHA Haz Com; OSHA Lock Out Tag Out and all OSHA Fire Protection regulations
