Job Summary
Maintenance Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician in Mississauga, ON responsible for inspection, testing and diagnosing electrical, hydraulic and diesel construction equipment for repair. Performs hazard assessments, hoisting & rigging, and provides maintenance support to a continuous process manufacturing plant. Executes a range of maintenance tasks from simple repairs to complex equipment rebuilds, mentors junior technicians, conducts root cause failure analysis, and troubleshoots issues to meet production commitments. Requires experience with pneumatics, conveying systems, air compressors, natural gas systems, hydraulics, dust collectors, high-volume fans, pumps, piping, rigging, power transmission (motors, gearboxes), welding/fabricating, and industrial controls. Asset considerations include adherence to safe work practices; basic computer skills (Word/Excel); and ability to work independently or in a team. Certification such as 421A would be an asset but is not required.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices (lock-tag-try, fall protection, hazard assessments)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision independently or in a group
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
