Job Summary

Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer. Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments. Maintain condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment while following all safety rules and regulations. Complete dis-assembly and inspection to ensure parts may be ordered and machine work can be scheduled promptly. Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment. This role involves working in the shop with occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions to repair, conduct maintenance, and address customer concerns regarding John Deere equipment. Experience working as a mechanic on heavy construction, industrial, or diesel equipment is strongly preferred, along with Basic Service Technician certification and proficiency in running codes and submitting work orders.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Strong communication skill
  • Self-motivated
  • Must be able to move on/under machines to perform repairs and services
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance
  • Must be able to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Must frequently stand for long periods of time
  • Must often kneel, bend, lay on their backs, etc. to perform repairs, services, and/or maintenance
  • Must follow strict safety procedures
  • Must maintain proper equipment safety
  • Must maintain safe driving records

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working as a mechanic or technician on heavy construction, industrial or diesel equipment
  • Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification
  • Recent and regular computer usage, specifically in running codes and submitting work order information
