Job Summary
Perform basic diagnostics and repairs on John Deere heavy equipment as requested by the Service Manager, preparing required reports and forms for each work assignment. Maintain the shop condition, inventory, and tools while following all safety rules and regulations during dis-assembly, inspection, and machine servicing. Record all time, parts, and supplies used for customer and dealership equipment repairs. Work in the shop with occasional outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions to address customer concerns regarding the fleet. Requires willingness to learn, strong time management, and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Must have excellent time management skills
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Strong communication skill

- Must be able to move on/under machines to perform repairs and services
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly without assistance
- Must be able to frequently stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to often kneel, bend, lay on their backs, etc. to perform repairs, services, and/or maintenance
- Must follow strict safety procedures
- Must maintain both safety PPE and safe driving records daily
- Must be able to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
- Must be able to frequently work outdoors or onsite at customer locations
- Must be able to work in the repair shop to perform their tasks and duties
- Must be able to work on even surfaces on a hard floor in the shop
- Must be able to combat potential dangers and risk hazards
- Must be able to follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Must be able to maintain condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
- Must be able to complete dis-assembly and inspection
- Must be able to maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment
- Must be able to prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
- Must be able to perform basic diagnostics and repairs on equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer
- Must be able to address any customer concerns or questions regarding our fleet of John Deere equipment
- Must be a friendly team player
- Must have an outstanding work ethic
- Must enjoy contributing to a positive work environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working as a mechanic or technician on heavy construction, industrial or diesel equipment
- Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification
- Recent and regular computer usage, specifically in running codes and submitting work order information
