Job Summary

Heavy Equipment Technician responsible for inspection, mechanical servicing, and maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment both in shop and in the field. Duties include driving to job sites, inspecting engines and equipment, conducting repairs, performing routine maintenance, and maintaining accurate service records. Must diagnose faults in diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, brakes, steering, drive train components, differentials, transmissions, and HVAC systems; perform minor welding/fabrication; communicate with teammates; and be able to work after-hours and travel as required. Requires a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and a medical card; willingness to obtain Class A CDL. Minimum two years’ related mechanic experience and a high school diploma or GED are required.

Required Qualifications

  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic or other related experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to comply with FMCSA regulations for interstate commercial driving
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment
  • Ability to work after-hours if required
  • Travel as required
  • Valid Driver’s License with Class B CDL with airbrake endorsement and valid medical card
  • Willingness to obtain Class A CDL to pull operate a truck and trailer combination
