Heavy Equipment Shop Technician (Mechanic)

Job Summary
Maintain and repair heavy equipment and aerial lifts at a Port Charlotte rental facility. You’ll diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, use laptops/tablets to create and monitor work orders, track service intervals, and order parts. You’ll support and train lower level technicians, keep complete electronic/work order documentation, assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts, and ensure OSHA requirements are followed. The role includes year-round OEM training, and on-call overtime compensation. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM with potential overtime.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or trade school certificate preferred
- Experience in field service, maintenance and repair preferred
- Must own tools applicable to position
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
- Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend freely
- Drug screen required
- OSHA knowledge preferred
- Ability to work 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Overtime/On-call schedule with compensation
