Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Shop Technician responsible for diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and established products, preparing reports, maintaining shop and inventory, and following safety rules. Role involves dis-assembly and inspection to order parts and schedule machine work, and maintaining records of time, parts, and supplies for customer and dealership equipment. Requires experience as a mechanic with heavy equipment or related diesel equipment, willingness to engage in ongoing training (e.g., JDU, Stihl, Wirtgen), and proficiency with basic shop tooling and computer-based work orders. Required Qualifications
- Experience as a mechanic diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing equipment, preferably heavy equipment, ag/turf equipment, compact construction, or related diesel equipment; experience with 2- and 4-cycle equipment will be considered for locations with small engine shops
- Coachability and willingness to learn through continued training (e.g., JDU certification, capstone course, Stihl certification, Wirtgen training)
- Recent and regular computer use, specifically in running codes and submitting work order information is strongly preferred
- Basic tooling required for most shops and training in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics is preferred
