Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic (Independence Excavating)

Job Summary
Diverse mechanical scope including maintenance and rebuilds across bulldozers, generators, and assorted equipment; diagnose/mechanically repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emission issues; perform preventive maintenance and inspections; conduct machinery teardowns/rebuilds; repair attachments; document repairs and prepare work orders; travel to project sites for specific repairs; welding and fabrication; use diagnostic equipment; operate in a shop from 7 AM–3 PM or 6 AM–4 PM shifts; interact with project teams, uphold safety policies, and pursue internal growth to field mechanic roles.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance
- Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Expertise in operating diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting hydraulic systems
- Strong welding and fabrication skills, including acetylene and electric arc welding
- The ability to lift objects weighing up to 60 pounds
- Willingness to travel and obtain a CDL driver's license, with a clean driving record
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed
