Job Summary
Teach Heavy Equipment pathways to high school students using state and local programs; develop lesson plans and instructional materials, provide individualized and small-group instruction, and adapt curriculum to students’ needs. Evaluate pupil progress, maintain records, communicate with parents, and create a safe, engaging classroom environment. Require experience operating heavy equipment (backhoe, track hoe, dozer, etc.), and pursue applicable certifications as determined by the Kentucky Department of Education; may involve IEP/GSSP coordination, assessments per district/state guidelines, and potential steps toward provisional teaching certification.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma
- Associate, baccalaureate or advanced degree in the content area to be taught
- 4 years experience in Heavy Equipment with 2 of those years in the last 5 years
- Must be eligible to receive a valid certification as determined by the Kentucky Department of Education, Division of Educator Licensure and Quality
- Experience in operating a backhoe, track hoe, dozer, etc.
- KYOTE/ACT/SAT or GED College Readiness exam if not at least some college credit
- NOCTI test may be an additional requirement
- Provisional teaching certificate and NTI (New Teacher Institute) if not currently holding a valid teaching certificate
