Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, and dump trucks while performing preventative maintenance and pre-shift walk-arounds. Maintain positive crew relationships, produce high-quality work safely, and provide feedback to ensure materials and tools are available. Inspect subordinates' work for accuracy and compliance, eliminate waste in tasks and methods, and share knowledge to improve processes. Read drawings and specifications, utilize trade tools, and adhere to all safety standards and procedures. Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperatures and outside conditions, climbing frameworks and lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires minimum three to six years of industrial/commercial construction experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level III) and six plus years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry
- In-depth understanding of the operation of various types of heavy construction equipment
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
- Ability to climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Ability to lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
- Ability to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Ability to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
- Ability to stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
- Ability to move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas
