Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders while adhering to OSHA and H&K safety policies. Control machine function by monitoring engine stalling and performing daily checks on fluids, oils, and coolant. Clean equipment, ensure secure parking, and notify the shop foreman of maintenance or repair needs. Maintain proper operating conditions through regular greasing and fluid inspections. This role requires a one-year certificate or six months of related experience, including passing a practical skills test. Candidates must understand detailed instructions, solve problems, and utilize appropriate PPE. The position involves sitting, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds in outside weather conditions with exposure to vibration and loud noise.
Required Qualifications
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Able to pass practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Desired Qualifications
- Two years of related experience and/or training
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
