Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders to achieve daily production goals while adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies. Perform daily equipment checks, grease and maintain machines, ensure safe parking/storage, and notify shop foreman of maintenance or repairs. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication, follow detailed instructions, and apply problem-solving skills. Pass PPE requirements and meet physical demands associated with heavy equipment operation. Training and certifications available; preferred candidates have additional experience in heavy civil construction and OSHA certifications.
Required Qualifications
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
- Able to pass practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Two years of related experience and/or training (preferred)
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries (preferred)
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications (preferred)
