Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Summary
Safely and proficiently operate heavy equipment including cranes, excavators, tractor backhoes, and bulldozers for commercial and heavy construction projects. Perform operator maintenance, oversee rigging, and ensure safe lifting procedures while laying out excavations for structures and pipe trenches up to 40 feet deep. Install earth retention and dewatering systems, assist with batter boards, and read blueprints to establish benchmarks. Rigging and signaling are required for crane and excavator communications. This role requires three years of relevant equipment operating experience, NCCCO crane certification, and the ability to work in confined spaces and climb heights up to 30 feet. Travel up to 300 miles and stay overnight 3-4 days per week is necessary. Knowledge of wastewater or water treatment is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years experience operating relevant equipment (crane, excavator or bulldozer)
- Must have three years heavy equipment operating (in relevant equipment) experience or apprentice program graduate or other equivalent education experience
- Ability to occasionally lift 100#
- Ability to climb and work at 30' heights
- Ability to travel up to 300 miles and stay overnight 3-4 days per week
- CDL or ability to obtain CDL
- NCCCO crane certification or ability to obtain certification
- Blueprint reading
- Operate transit & laser level
- Proper use and maintenance of heavy equipment
- Crane/excavator signaling
- Ability to work in confined spaces
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of or working with wastewater or water treatment is a plus
