Job Summary
Operate traveling or stationary cranes and earth-moving equipment to lift, move, and position loads such as structural ship parts, machinery, and materials using hooks, clamps, slings, or electro-magnets. Manipulate controls to regulate speed and direction according to written, verbal, or signal instructions while observing load hookups for safety. Clean, maintain, and regularly inspect crane and excavation mechanisms for defects, notifying supervisors of malfunctions. May attach loads to hooks, repair defective parts, and operate overhead cranes or other company vehicles. Perform duties in all weather conditions, including working at heights, over water, and in confined spaces, while wearing required protective gear. Requires verifiable references of past work experience and ability to provide technical school or on-the-job training.
