Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment including D9 dozers, front-end loaders, haul trucks, and drilling rigs to extract stone, maintain haul roads, and support quarry production processes. Perform drilling and blasting activities, manage explosives inventory, and conduct equipment inspections to identify operational concerns. Maintain compliance with safety regulations and train employees in safe equipment operation. Work overtime, weekends, and holidays in an active quarry environment while wearing required personal protective equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to safely operate and monitor heavy equipment and mobile machinery
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational and equipment-related issues
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making in a production environment
- Ability to maintain a high level of dependability, integrity, and professionalism
- Ability to comply with all safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to complete operational records and related documentation accurately
- Ability to remain aware of surrounding personnel, equipment, and changing work conditions
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to enter and exit mobile equipment frequently
- Ability to operate, monitor, and adjust equipment controls
- Ability to use hand tools and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties
- Ability to visually inspect equipment, work areas, and quarry materials
- Ability to wear and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including personal lockout/tagout lock, ANSI-approved hard hat, ANSI-approved safety glasses with side shields, steel-toe safety boots or shoes, and hearing protection
- Ability to use an approved fall protection system, including a harness and lanyard, when conducting drilling operations at heights of six (6) feet or greater without guardrails
- Ability to successfully complete New Employee Training conducted by a qualified trainer
- Ability to receive New Task Training and demonstrate competency in assigned duties before performing work independently
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in mining, quarry operations, construction, heavy equipment operation, or industrial manufacturing
- Knowledge of quarry operations, heavy equipment, and production processes
