Job Summary
Check equipment before operating to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency components are in good working order. Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work as required. Use the excavator to load trucks with soil, gravel, and other materials. Excavate precise trenches for utilities, drainage systems, and foundations. Perform rough grading and leveling as necessary. Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation. Communicate any unsafe conditions or accident/injuries immediately to the supervisor. Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulation, and compliance. This project in Lunenburg, NS runs through all of 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Experience operating a rock truck or excavator
- Solid understanding of construction, maintenance techniques & how to safely use equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine equipment maintenance
- Valid class 5 drivers license and reliable transportation to and from the worksite
- Effective time management skills with the ability to manage many tasks
- Possess a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision
