Job Summary
Operate heavy construction equipment such as landfill compactors, bulldozers, loaders, and articulated dump trucks within the NTMWD Landfills, monitoring performance and verifying delivered waste against applicable rules and regulations. Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on operated equipment with minimal supervision while maintaining assigned units and observing safe work practices. Requires sustained mental attention, spatial discrimination, and moderate physical exertion including daily lifting up to 25 pounds. Subject to shift work and exposure to weather and odor. Subject to driving District vehicles for business.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of two years of experience in operation of heavy construction type equipment
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Sustained mental attention regarding correct process adjustments necessary for proper Landfill maintenance
- Spatial discrimination
- Eye-hand-foot coordination
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Generally good physical condition
- Moderate physical exertion with daily lifting requirements up to 25 pounds
- Exposure to weather and odor
- Shift work
