Job Summary
Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections on heavy-duty diesel machinery including scrapers, bulldozers, haul trucks, excavators, and hydraulic systems to ensure equipment is clean, functional, and compliant. Safely operate loaders, excavators, grapples, and hydraulic cranes to move materials, sort scrap, and load/unload debris onto trucks or rail cars. Monitor equipment condition throughout shifts, verify load weights against lifting capacities, and perform routine maintenance such as fueling, lubricating, and cleaning. Assist with yard organization and material staging while working independently in all weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders and excavators in a large scale, industrial environment
- Ability to operate a variety of heavy machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience in the operation of a Caterpillar, Sennebogen, Grapple
- Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team
- Must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat
- Must be exposed to and take precautions for dangerous and/or toxic substances to protect eyes, nose and skin from irritation and infection
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling 25 to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Previous Hydraulic Crane experience preferred
