Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment, specifically dozers, to achieve daily production goals while adhering to OSHA and H&K safety policies. Control machine functions by moving levers and depressing pedals, listening for engine stalling to ensure efficient operation. Perform scheduled cleaning, secure parking, and daily maintenance checks including greasing, fluid levels, and operating condition assessments. Notify the shop foreman of any maintenance or repair requirements. Maintain physical fitness to meet lifting demands and utilize appropriate PPE. This role requires a one-year certificate or six months of related experience, with a practical skills test for heavy equipment. The Landis C. Required Qualifications
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Able to pass practical skills test for heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, and loaders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Problem solving
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Two years of related experience and/or training
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
- OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
