Job Summary
Heavy Equipment Operator / Driller Trainee (Quarry) role involves operating heavy construction equipment (backhoe, skid steer, excavators, loaders) and learning drilling and blasting processes. Responsibilities include daily maintenance for safe, efficient operation; adhering to safety policies; learning drill patterns and executing layouts as directed; inventorying accessories; communicating terrain conditions and problems to the Blaster/Foreman; completing drill reports, hole sheets, and timecards; coordinating supplies; participating in safety and job meetings; performing Driller I training within designated period; working unsupervised with urgency; travel may be required. Starting pay is $20.00-$22.00 per hour with a weekly travel allowance, with pay increases as training targets are met.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License with own transportation
- Experience as construction laborer
- Must hold a high level of common sense relative to equipment and machinery operation
- Mechanical aptitude based on past experience around equipment, motors, hydraulic, electrical systems
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Must successfully complete a background screening for ATF
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs., 30–40% of the time
- Work on uneven and loose surfaces in varying weather conditions
- Stooping and bending 30-40% of the time
