Job Summary
DRILLER TRAINEE-CONSTRUCTION role focusing on learning drill patterns and safely operating heavy construction equipment (backhoe, skid steer, excavators, loaders). Responsibilities include daily maintenance for safe operation, adhering to safety policies, learning drill patterns and layouts as directed by the Blaster Foreman, inventory and cost understanding of drill accessories, communicating terrain conditions and problems to the Blaster/Foreman, completing drill reports and timecards in the Field Accounting system, coordinating supplies with the Blaster, participating in Foreman/Safety/Job meetings, and training to complete Driller I within the designated period. Requires safety-mindedness, ability to work in varying weather, valid driver's license with own transportation, construction-laborer experience, strong mechanical aptitude, ability to pass physical and ATF background checks, and lifting 50–100 lbs. Starting pay is $20.00-$22.00 per hour with a $150/week travel allowance; overtime and pay-increase opportunities as training milestones are met. Travel may be out of town.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License with own transportation
- Experience as construction laborer
- Must hold a high level of common sense relative to equipment and machinery operation
- Mechanical aptitude based on past experience around equipment, motors, hydraulic, electrical systems
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Must successfully complete a background screening for ATF
- Ability to lift 50 – 100 lbs., 30 – 40% of the time
- Equipment operating experience is helpful (earth moving construction equipment, farm equipment, timber harvesting equipment)
