Job Summary
Operate the tractor and blade to level soil, move rock and debris, and scoop out material on job sites. Perform excavation of lime, flex base, and general sub-grade operations while following all safety rules and reporting hazardous conditions. Communicate effectively with others using verbal and non-verbal hand signals. Work days, nights, and weekends as required under supervisor direction. Recognize hazardous conditions and report them immediately.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of dozer experience on heavy highway road construction projects
- Physical ability to perform assigned labor-related tasks (climbing ladders, climbing in and out of ditches, prolonged physical exertions including standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying)
- Physical ability to work in various conditions with exposure to weather elements
- Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools (hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, screwdrivers, etc.)
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends as needed
- Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented with a strong commitment to safety
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with grade control systems preferred
- Knowledge of finishing roadways and reading construction plans, sketches, and blueprints
- Providing own hand tools, including hammer, pouch, level, 8" crescent wrench, and tape measure, is a plus
