Job Summary
Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently on construction and excavation sites, including excavators, loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and trenchers for tasks like earthmoving, trenching, and material transportation. Perform excavation, grading, backfilling, roadwork, and act as a ground guide or construction technician as assigned. Read blueprints and site plans to determine work requirements while conducting pre- and post-operation inspections and reporting mechanical issues. Adhere to OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and IT&E mission policies under the direction of the Outside Plant Supervisor. Transport equipment between job sites, maintaining a clean work area and proper storage. This temporary one-year position supports the BEAD Project with a competitive total rewards package including base salary and discretionary bonuses.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Technical school graduate desirable
- One year minimum experience in Outside Plant operations, in construction and operating heavy equipment such as backhoe, excavator, dump truck and trencher
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to drive with manual gear shift
- Chauffeurs license is preferred
- Ability to obtain DOT medical certification on the job
- Heavy Equipment Operator Class III Certificate is preferred
