Job Summary
Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, scrapers, and front-end loaders to perform grading, digging, lifting, and material handling tasks. Execute advanced duties such as land leveling, trenching, and precise excavation per blueprints. Maintain machinery through pre-operational checks, troubleshooting, and minor repairs while coordinating with supervisors to ensure safe, on-schedule project completion. Train junior operators and document daily operations, including equipment usage and incidents. Work outdoors in all weather conditions, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, and climb equipment or stairs as needed.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2-5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a large scale, industrial environment
- Ability to operate a variety of heavy machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
- Proven ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to enforce safety procedures on-site
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a team
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance and repairs on machinery
- Must pass drug screen and physical
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Environmental conditions - must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling 25 to 50 pounds
- Able to climb a minimum of 2 story of stairs
- Walk and stand for long periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or related fields is a plus (e.g., OSHA, NCCCO, or manufacturer-specific certifications)
